It is a well known fact that water is essential to all life on this planet. Human beings can survive for up to a month without food, they can only survive for up to a week without water. In order to function properly, every cell in the human body utilizes water. Dehydration leads to some very serious health complications. All life is dependent upon water to not only survive but also to thrive. What exactly does water provide to and for our bodies? What are the signs and effects of dehydration? What are the benefits of drinking water purified through the use of a countertop water filter?

Just to give you a little science review, the human body is made up of up to 78% water (depending on body size.) A generally accepted rule of thumb is that 2/3 of the human body is made up of water. Tissues and organs are mainly made up of water. Muscles consist of 75% water, the human brain consists of 90% water, bone consists of 22% water and blood consists of 83% water. Water allows many of the functions of the human body to occur properly. Water helps to transport nutrients and oxygen into cells, moistures air in the lungs, helps maintain metabolism, protects vital organs, helps with nutrient absorption, helps to regulate body temperature, detoxifies our bodies and protect and moisturizes our joints.

A general rule of thumb is that the average person needs to consume eight glasses of water per day. The number is slightly less for children. In order for body systems to function properly, and also to prevent dehydration, water needs to be consumed fairly regularly and in sufficient amounts. If you have dark urine, dry skin, thirst, or even hunger, you may already be dehydrated. These early warning symptoms may be early indications that your body requires more water. Dehydration causes tiredness, migraine headaches, constipation, muscle cramps, irregular blood pressure, kidney problems, dry skin, and even carries a risk of death in extreme cases. In general, people do not consume enough water each day. Simply using a countertop water filter to improve taste might solve this, as a common reason for not getting enough water is poor quality and taste.

What are the advantages to using a countertop water filter to obtain pristine water purification? For starters, better tasting and better smelling water. As if that wasn't enough, there are many more reasons: removal of chlorine and other bacterial contaminants, removal of lead, reduced cost over consuming bottled water, reduced risk of cancer, protection from disease, and filtration of known water contaminants. There is also the convenience of water filtration. Consuming enough water is especially important for children because their bodies are still growing and water is essential to assist in healthy growth. In many cases, filtered water simply tastes better than tap water alone and children and adults can both benefit from drinking more water.

If you are considering using a countertop water filter to obtain pristine water purification, it may be an easy way to assure that your family is getting enough water each day to maintain health.
