A Good Way To Start Juicing

By Joel A. Johnson

Juicing by far is one of the healthiest options these days. Juicing extracts a lot of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes available in fruits and vegetables that your body can absorb without having to eat many fruits and vegetables.

Natural juices in stores have a lot less nutrients and enzymes as the heating process that occurs in manufacturing plants destroys a lot of the nutrients and enzymes found naturally in these juices.

The best way to start juicing is to learn the basics. This may be obvious but many people start something new and choose not to stick with the basic and end up not having a good foundation.

Research different fruits and vegetables to determine which health benefits they offer. You will then know how to use them to meet your health needs.

Let's say for example you are struggling with joint inflammation. In addition to exercise, juices with celery, cucumber, carrot, beet, and cantaloupe help you to get the nutrients you need for your joints, bone repair and other problems.

Note that collard greens such as cabbage and kale should not be used for juicing. They have their health benefits but when raw they are known to suppress thyroid activity. Cook them a little before eating.

When juicing ensure that your vegetables are removed from your refrigerator at least a few hours before you start. Fresh vegetables used too cold for juicing can negatively affect ones gastrointestinal tract that can result in disorder in the stomach.

Learn about the better juices. Normally, a juice with leafy green vegetables such as lettuce and spinach is the way to go. Experts recommend 50-70% greens in a juice. Then use fruits as sweetener. Use less fruits as they can be very sweet and high in calories.

Although green vegetables are good for you, many people don't enjoy eating them due to their taste. You can counter this by adding other healthy ingredients like lime for a sour taste or sweet fruits like pear for a sweet taste.

Juice the fruits and vegetables you like to eat. This way you will enjoy juicing and won't see it as some medicine taking exercise. A healthy lifestyle is something you should enjoy.

Ensure that you take care of your juicer. Always wash your juicer as soon as you are finished with it. Bear in mind that some vegetable and fruits can stain jugs and blades.

Heavy duty juicers are expensive so always remove seeds and pit fruits before juicing to avoid a heavy repair bill. Some seeds such as apple seeds contain cyanide which is toxic. Care should therefore be made to remove seeds.

Now that you have a better idea on how to go about juicing, go ahead and start that healthy lifestyle now. All you need is to learn a little about juicers and you are done.
